Policies for Club Championships

The following have all been endorsed at Management Committee meetings held in March 2008:-

(Note - if a specific policy is not mentioned in this document, then the applicable QBA regulation will apply.)

These rules will apply to the following events: Club Pairs Championship, Club Novice Championship, Club Teams Championship.

1. These competitions are to be run by a non-playing director.

2. Current club directors are to be offered the chance to direct these events before an outside director is asked.

3. If an outside director is used, then the Games Director will arrange for one of the Club's directors to act as liaison, to assist in the planning, setting up and scoring of the event.

4. Time allowed for play remains the same as for normal sessions.

5. Entry conditions for each event will be displayed on the entry form, or next to it, when displayed on the club noticeboard.

6. Red points on Championship days will be awarded to players in the competition, but not to those in any side movement organised for the same time.

7. Entry fees will be clearly displayed alongside the entry form.

8. Entries will close at the time and date listed on the entry form. Additional entries may be accepted by the Director in order to organise a more balanced movement.

9. All entrants must be financial members of the club to participate. This includes any substitutes.

10. One substitute is allowed to play in special events provided the substitute is not a registered contestant and is of a standard of play equal or lesser than the masterpoint status of the member replaced. Three directors shall assess the standard of play of the substitute. Use of a substitute in Pairs Championship event disqualifies the pair from winning the title of the event.

11. A separate game may be arranged for non-competing members if there are three or more tables and this game will be a green point event. If there are less than three tables the non-competing players are to be included in the main event. These participants will be eligible for red points, but not for title, trophy or prize money.

12. Prize money and/or trophies will be presented at the Annual Prize Giving held at the Christmas Party.

13. The preferred option is that all participants (i.e. pair or team) will play all others i.e. a round-robin event, where all play the same number of pre-dealt boards.

The above should be read in conjunction with Policies for Club Play.
